Shot Timer & Espresso Log
Time the extraction, log the result, spot the pattern. Everything stays in this browser — no account, nothing uploaded.
How to use the log
The point of a log is not record-keeping for its own sake — it is to stop you from repeating the same mistake. Pull a shot, note the grind and the taste, then change exactly one thing. Two shots later the pattern shows up.
Common patterns:
- Every shot tastes sour and runs fast — the grind is too coarse. Go one step finer and keep everything else fixed.
- Every shot tastes bitter but runs correct on time — the temperature is too high or the ratio too long. Drop 1 °C first.
- Time varies wildly for the same grind — inconsistent distribution or dose. Weigh the basket, then stir the grounds with a needle tool.
Where does my data go?
Nowhere. The log is stored in your browser's local storage on this device. Clearing site data or using private browsing will erase it. Nothing is sent to a server, and there is no account.
Getting the numbers right
Weigh the basket after dosing, not the beans before grinding — retention in the grinder can be a full gram. Use the ratio calculator to pick the yield before you start, and the strength calculator if you own a refractometer.
