Tell it what your shot is doing.
Give it the taste, the time and your gear. It gives you one thing to change — not a list of ten.
Up to four questions per session. Answers are suggestions, not measurements — your palate is the final judge.
Why a single change, not a checklist
Most espresso troubleshooting advice fails because it changes three things at once. If the shot improves, you do not know which change did it; if it gets worse, you do not know which to undo. The advisor is instructed to isolate one variable per round — usually grind, because grind is the only adjustment that moves extraction without changing the dose or the yield.
What it needs from you
Four pieces of information change the answer completely:
| Tell it | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Taste: sour, bitter, weak, harsh | Sets the direction — finer or coarser |
| Shot time in seconds | Separates grind problems from dose problems |
| Grams in and grams out | Reveals whether the ratio itself is the fault |
| Grinder type | Determines how small a step you can actually take |
What it will not do
It cannot taste your coffee, so it works from your description — and sour-versus-bitter is genuinely hard to name without practice. If its advice makes the shot worse instead of better, that is useful information: it usually means the fault was the opposite of what it guessed. Say so in the next message and it will reverse direction.
It also will not recommend specific products. That is deliberate: the useful buying advice is about specs — stepless adjustment, burr material, basket diameter — and those hold true regardless of which brand you pick.
Common questions
Is this a real AI or a script?
It calls a language model through our server, not your browser. Your API key never touches the page, and the model gets a fixed system prompt that keeps answers to numbers rather than gear recommendations.
What should I type?
Taste first, then numbers: sour or bitter, how many seconds the shot ran, how many grams in and out, and what grinder you have. The more specific the input, the more specific the fix.
Will it tell me which machine to buy?
It is instructed not to recommend products or brands. If you ask, it will tell you which spec to look for instead — flow control, burr type, basket size — and let you decide.
Does it remember my previous questions?
Only within the current page session, and only up to four turns. Nothing is stored on the server after the response is sent.
Can I use it for filter coffee too?
Yes. Pour over, French press, AeroPress, Moka and cold brew all work. Give it your ratio and brew time and it will adjust from there.
